Staffing - By the Numbers

As of April 1st, 2022, NY nursing homes are required to provide an average of 3.5 hours of hands-on care per resident per day.

This includes at least 2.2 hours of care from nurse aides and at least 1.1 hours from a licensed practical nurse or registered nurse.

The average facility only provided 3.3 hours of care per resident per day, with lower levels on the weekends.
